Setbacks
What went wrong in development:
The character initially had trouble navigating between doors while preserving its spawn points, often skipping levels and disconnecting itself from the flow of the story. The box colliders on death objects also made the game play a lot hider as the player would get killed if it seemed like it didn't collide with the actual object, but rather the box collider. There wasn't a clear guide in the beginning describing the value and function of each object, which would possibly lead to confusion on which is the key to unlock doors between rooms. The canvas overlay with the text also initially didn't fit what my original game screen looked like in unity, leading to many trials and errors and still isn't fit to my liking in the game play window. I also had a lot of trouble with spawn points, but found a solution that is posted in the lessons learned post.
